SatNaam Ji
Dandauth bandhna ji

on this innner path we become more aware of how our thoughts effect our
hirdha.

OPENING THE HIRDHA:

When we are positive, happy, feeling like SatGuru Ji is shining
brighter than all the suns and moons, showering His warmth, love and
healing energy upon us.  Then we feel like a flower blossoming
in the sunshine of Naam.  Our hirdha is open.

When we help others, think good of others, think how we can make their
life easier and more comfortable, then the divine qualities of KINDNESS
and COMPASSION open up our hirdha and we feel calm and
peaceful.

When we excercise or just even simply go for a walk and feel the wind
on our face, the cool air in our nostrils and lungs, we appreciate the
beautiful LIFEFORCE (Satnaam Amrit) in the trees, grass, people and
dogs and cats around us, then our hirdha is open. Then the divine
qualities of THANKFULNESS and APPRECIATING AND PRAISING HIM expand our
hirdha.

When we sit and listen to gurbani kirtan and sing along with love in
our heart and understanding and feel we are sitting at the feet of
SatGuru Ji, then our mind cools down, relaxes, goes into love of His
Lotus feet.  Then the divine qualities of LOVE and HUMBLENESS
expand our hirdha.

CLOSING THE HIRDHA

When we start thinking of ourself, of our desires, of chasing our
wants, thinking we haven’t got time to do simran or sing gurbani, that
we have to make our job and money and our lovelife and pleasure seeking
the priority.  Then we get caught up in the excitement of
Maya, the thrill of the chase.  which satisifes our wordly
senses – our touch, hearing, vision, taste and
smell.   Our hirdha starts closing, we start losing
the inner connection.

When our mind gets hold of a negative thought, maybe about an
unfulfilled desire – even spiritual desire, then gets jealous of others
who have that thing that we also wanted.  Then perhaps getting
down, feeling unhappy, feeling miserable and grumpy, taking it out on
our family for no reason.  Then maybe feeling depressed and
useless, then wallowing in self-pity of how useless we are.
Then remembering all the negative things about ourself.  Going
quiet, getting introverted, feeling tense, feeling nothing when we even
try and do simran or listen to gurbani.   Then that
is the sign that our Hirdha is closed.

When we are thinking and worrying and getting anxious and feeling
insecure about the future.  When our thoughts are just running
in the past, regretting what we did or wishing we had done things
differently.  When we try not to think about the past traumas
and bad expereinces and instead of dealing with them by bringing them
out into the open (confession) we just try and bury them and ignore
that bad time in our life.  We try and keep ourself busy in
work or family or hobbies or activities to avoid thinking about that
bad expereince/abuse/trauma.    But when we
are silent, we cant sleep, those thoughts haunt us.
The longer we leave dealing with them, the more the mind latches onto
something else to worry about in order to distract us, mind to avoid
thoughts of past abuse may start obessing about fear of spiders which
becomes extreme fear – a phobia – just the thought of a spider makes
the body cringe.   Hirdha is completely closed up.

Maybe we are thinking that we are a loser, that this is our lot in
life, that we cant do anything to escape from the people and situation
we are in – a prisoner in our mind, we give up even trying to be
positive, we fulfill the formalities of our life, be a dutiful wife or
a breadwinner husband, going through the motions but feeling no love or
caring or happyness. Hirdha has closed up.

If we pursue untrue deeds, cimrinal acts, cheating and lying and not
donig our job honestly, our hirdha closes up.

But if we are greatly fortunate, and even from the closed Hirdha, a ray
of Light breaks though and transforms into a thought in our mind that
“chit avay os parbrahm ta lagaa na thathee vaho – remember that Supreme
God and not even the hot winds can touch you”
(Gurbani)  , and our mind diverts from the negative thoughts
to just this pure divine thought, then like the first ray of the
morning sun, the heavy darkness of the night before starts to
clear.  The Sun of SatNaam starts rising in the night sky of
our mind, hope returns, the karmic-clouds clear, the mind and body cool
down,  the heart sings on hearing gurbani and praising His
Name, nature looks wonderful, compassion and kindness return, humblness
and love return.  We live to serve, we live to love, Maya
leaves, SatNaam returns.  The SatGuru was watching from
within, He smiles, we pass the test, another layer of Maya has been
peeled away from our consciousness.  Our spirit evolved just
that little bit more.

How many more tests? How long is the path?  We dont know, but
like Baba ji says with a beaming smile and a pat on our back, “chalee
chal ,chalee chal – keep on going, keep on going.”
And most importantly DONT LOOK BACK, DONT PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT OTHERS
SAY TO STOP US, DONT GO INTO THE NEGATIVE DESTRUCTIVE SIDE OF MAYA
AGAIN.  KEEP FOCUSED ON SATNAAM SATNAAM ALWAYS AND FOREVER
SATNAAM.

Most people have no idea why they are feeling sad and grumpy or dull
and dead, but the Sant sees our inner state , sees the Hirdha is
closed.  Speaks to us with kindess, asks us how we feel, what
is in our mind, makes us realise what negative thoughts we are churning
and holding onto, and by making us speak of our inner state, releases
us from our own negativity.  Hirdha opens up, we feel love and
light and warmth, we feel open and bright and good and loving, we feel
calm and peaceful and humble and poor in attitude – gareeb and
maskeen.  And we wonder what the Sant did for us?
They just unlocked the door to the Hirdha by giving us the key of the
GurParsaad of Naam (Eternal Blessings of The Infinite Divine Power).

May SatGuru Ji Bless us all.
